Matter is a Royal Mail service, the result of a long-standing collaboration between Royal Mail and Tim Milne’s Artomatic, who, in 2001 – 03, staged a series of exhibitions, OpenUp, which focused on the creative virtues of direct mail. After the final show came an idea to create a separate channel for the very best tangible advertising. This became Matter.

Artomatic evolved from an innovative printer to a seminal retail concept that ushered in a renewed fascination with print and physical art-objects. This thinking and passion was further developed to create Matter Media Ltd, which curates the Matter editions on behalf of Royal Mail.
Matter is now offered as a service (in the UK) from Royal Mail who bring their unique network and considerable resources for Matter to reach its full potential.
